Introduction

About Us

Foothill Quilters Guild was started in 1982 by a small group of women who attended a River City Quilters Guild meeting and started talking about the possibility of having something closer to home. They put a little note in the local paper and with that, and by word of mouth, they had over 50 attend the very first meeting. We celebrated our 40th anniversary in 2022.

Meetings:

We meet on the 2nd Monday of each month at the Cornerstone Community Church, 11111 Dry Creek Road, Auburn. Our meetings start at 6:30pm; however, it is best to come around 6:00 for hospitality, sign-ups, and other activities. We target 9pm as our ending time.

Our board meetings include officers and committee chairs, as well as any other member who would like to attend. They are held on the 3rd Monday of each month. For the past 2 years they have been on Zoom.

Membership in the Guild:

Our Guild year is July 1-June 30 each year. We currently have about 160 members but welcome new members year-round. Our dues are $35 for regular membership ($20 for new members joining after January 1); free for junior members; $50 for affiliates.

Members are requested to fashion and wear a handcrafted nametag to Guild meetings. A 25-cent penalty is assessed of members not wearing a nametag.

What We Do:

We offer a variety of activities for our members. In addition to those described on our Activities pages, we have speakers at most of our general guild meetings, workshops taught by those speakers, and an annual quilt show. We sponsor quilt camp in the spring. We also have an active Community Service program where we make and donate quilts and other related items to a variety of local organizations.

We help orient our new members with New Member gatherings and try to facilitate the formation of new mini-groups. Our monthly newsletter provides information about Guild activities and events in the quilting community. We have an extensive library of quilting and quilting-related books for members’ use. And we have items available to purchase at each meeting.

Guild Organization and Leadership:

The Guild is governed by our Bylaws and Policies and Procedures, both of which are reviewed and updated every two years. We have nine elected board positions: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Program Chair, Program Chair-elect, Quilt Show Chair, Quilt Show Chair-elect, and Past President. In addition, we have many committee chairs, without whom we couldn’t offer the activities we do. These include: Auditor; Block of the Month; Breast Cancer Auction (every third year); Bus Trips; Challenge; Community Pantry; Community Service; Discovery Day; Equipment; Grant Fund/Scholarship; Historian/Photographer; Hospitality; Junior Quilters; Library; Logo Merchandise; Membership; N.C.Q.C. Representative; Newsletter Editor/Advertising; Opportunity Quilt Marketer; Opportunity Quilt Designer; Parliamentarian; Retreat; Treasure Chest; Webmaster; Welcoming; Workshops. Many of these have committees that offer opportunities to help out with the Guild.
