These strands, known as filaments, are thinner than a human hair and are derived from a plastic material called PAN (polyacrylonitrile). They are then combined with a polymer resin (such as epoxy) to form a carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP). The composite is shaped using molds and cured under heat and pressure to achieve its final form. This process produces materials that are exceptionally strong, stiff, and resistant to corrosion.
