Tai Cheer: Your Partner in Precision Drawer Slide Technology

Our lives depend on smooth, reliable motion. From the drawers we open every day to office filing cabinets and heavy medical carts in hospitals, a key component is at work: the drawer slide. The invention of the drawer slide completely revolutionized how we use drawers, making access to items smoother and more effortless. However, finding the right slide for the job is a skill that requires a deeper understanding.

What Are Drawer Slides? A Guide to Types & Function

Drawer slides were created to solve the problems of friction and weight limitations, making drawers more fluid, secure, durable, and convenient to access.

Early drawers were often just wooden boxes sliding within wooden grooves. This created significant friction and often caused the drawers to get stuck. To improve on this, the earliest slide designs emerged in the industrial era of the early 20th century, using ball bearings or roller structures to reduce friction and allow for smooth, jam-free operation.

In 1960, Accuride in the United States was among the first companies to patent and mass-produce slide products, leading the development of ball bearing slide technology and the industry. In the same year, Germany's Hettich developed modular furniture slide structures, accelerating the application of slides in our daily lives.

Choosing the Right Drawer Slide: Key Types & Applications

There are many different types of slides, and you can choose the right one based on your needs. They can generally be divided into two main categories: those for residential furniture, kitchen cabinets, and office furniture, and those for industrial equipment, automobiles, machinery, chassis, and large-scale storage units.

Three common types of slides are in high demand in the market :

  • Ball Bearing Slides : These are characterized by multiple metal sections with ball bearings in between. This design makes the drawer extremely smooth and stable, with a strong weight capacity. They typically offer full extension, allowing the entire drawer to be pulled out for easy access. They are commonly used in kitchen cabinets, office furniture, filing cabinets, and tool chests.
  • Roller Slides : Unlike ball bearing slides, they are usually made of two parts: one fixed to the cabinet side and one to the drawer side. They slide on plastic or nylon rollers. Their structure is relatively simple and the cost is lower, but their load capacity and smoothness are not as good as ball bearing slides. They typically offer only 3/4 extension and are commonly found in lightweight to medium-load drawers in bedroom furniture and bookcases.
  • Undermount Slides : These are more advanced than the previous two. They are installed on the bottom of the drawer, hidden from view to maintain a clean and beautiful furniture appearance. They often use ball bearings or similar precision mechanisms to provide excellent smoothness and load capacity. They typically offer full extension and a soft-close function, making them the preferred choice for furniture with high aesthetic requirements.

Industrial slides, on the other hand, must have high-strength load capacity to support heavy-duty storage facilities like tool carts and equipment drawers. They are generally classified as Heavy-duty Drawer Slides.

From Standalone Machines to Integrated Production Lines: A New Direction for Coil Winding Automation
Coil winding automation is moving beyond the performance of individual machines. As production environments become more demanding, many of the most persistent problems no longer come from winding speed alone, but from poor coordination between processes, inconsistent material flow, and production layouts that were never designed to operate as one connected system. Integrated production lines are gaining attention because they address the broader structure of winding operations rather than only improving one isolated step.

ASSOMA Gains Attention for High-Efficiency Chemical Pump Technology
According to the IEK / Commercial Times report, “ASSOMA Receives TCIA Excellence R&D Award,” ASSOMA INC. has drawn industry attention for its high-efficiency engineering plastic chemical centrifugal pump technology and structure. The reported technology is regarded as a notable example of how corrosion-resistant chemical pumps are evolving toward higher efficiency. For users in chemical processing, PCB manufacturing, surface treatment, and environmental fluid handling systems, the value of this report goes beyond the recognition itself. It speaks directly to a continuing industrial challenge: as electricity costs, energy-saving pressure, ESG expectations, and reliability requirements rise, how should chemical pumps be evaluated to balance efficiency, chemical resistance, and total cost of ownership (TCO)?

Business Weekly Features SUCOOT: Construction Safety and Engineering Integration Gain Market Attention
For project owners, procurement teams, contractors, and engineering managers, scaffolding and temporary support systems are no longer evaluated as material purchases alone. In public infrastructure, high-tech facilities, industrial projects, and specialized restoration works, supplier selection is often influenced by structural stability, load-bearing reliability, installation consistency, site safety, construction efficiency, and the ability to support project schedules under varying site conditions. When system precision and support capability are insufficient, the result may include rework, higher execution risk, increased coordination burden, and pressure on both schedule and quality control. _Business Weekly_ recently featured Taiwan-based scaffolding and formwork systems company SUCOOT CO., LTD., focusing on its development in high-precision Ring Lock scaffolding, engineering design, and integrated service capability, as well as its application experience across public infrastructure, high-tech industries, and heritage restoration projects. Based on the report, market attention toward SUCOOT is not limited to its products alone, but also to how the company supports project teams through system precision and engineering services that help reduce on-site uncertainty and improve execution stability.
